You will return to the camp at sunset.
Amboseli National Park covers an area of 392 square kilometers and is renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain on earth and in Africa (5895m). Other animals you may spot here include cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, gazelles, hippos, and more.
Please Note: You can choose to arrive a day earlier and partake in the various activities that Nairobi has to offer, including a visit to the Giraffe Center, David Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage, Nairobi National Park, and a city tour combined with Lunch at the famous tamarind brasserie or the carnivore restaurant.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park
You'll leave the camp after breakfast, carrying your packed lunch to be enjoyed in the wild. You'll spend the whole day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli which are fed by subterranean water channels. Water is abundant throughout the year and so is the pasture. Elephants and various other herbivores are found here. You'll retreat to the lodge late in the afternoon after a long exploration of this 392sq km.
You'll also have an option of starting the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they're at their most active. Then, you'll return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch.
You'll spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in the camp reading your favourite book or just listening to your favourite music while observing the birds. Don't stress, the animals will be doing the same. Afterwards, you'll head off in the afternoon (4:00 pm) for another drive through the park. Along the way, you'll make a stop at the awe-inspiring Great Rift Valley viewpoint to soak in the breathtaking landscapes. Your lunch will be at the picturesque Sopa Lodge, situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha, before continuing your journey to Lake Nakuru. Upon arrival, you'll dive into an exhilarating game drive to discover the park's incredible wildlife. As the day winds down, you'll check into your hotel, ready to unwind from an action-packed day.
This park is a true natural wonder, boasting rocky escarpments, patches of vibrant yellow-barked acacia forest, and a waterfall. It is home to diverse wildlife, including flamingos, black and white rhinos, majestic lions, elusive leopards, buffaloes, and the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. - it's a sight you'll never forget.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve (221km-4-5 hour drive)
Today after breakfast, you will drive through the Rift Valley floor to Masai Mara National Reserve arriving at the lodge in good time for lunch. You will embark on your first game drive in the reserve this afternoon in search of the Big Five and other herbivores that roam around in this beautiful savanna. You'll return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.
One of our favorite places to look for wildlife in Kenya is the Masai Mara National Reserve. That's because the wildlife here is incredible, with big cats (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) and elephants among the highlights. There's a very good chance you'll also see giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and, of course, impalas. Bring your binoculars, because more than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. It's a place of beautiful savannah landscapes as well, with lots of acacia trees. You'll visit the reserve which is a highlight for many travelers.
Day 5: Masai Mara National Reserve
This is a full day spent game viewing across the rich tree-studded grassland and rolling hills of the famous savannah. The Mara is renowned for its great herds of plains game animals like leopards, cheetahs, lions, and other herbivores. It has virtually every other type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. You will have a full-day game drive in Masai Mara Savannah.
Your lunch today is picnic lunch boxes in the savannah under a flat-top acacia tree while watching the animals grazing. You will continue with the game viewing en route to your camp, arriving late in the afternoon after thoroughly exploring this massive grassland savannah measuring 1,500 sq.
You have an option of booking a balloon ride today which takes off early in the morning. After landing, the crew helps you out of the basket and escorts you to a lovely setting for a bush breakfast which is a lifetime experience and worth the
price. Later, join your driver guide at a location and proceed with your full-day game drive.
Day 6: Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park (380km-8-9 hour drive 4-hours by flight)
Today, prepare for a long but breathtaking drive to the Isebania border post, which separates Kenya and Tanzania. After completing the border immigration process, you will switch vehicles and meet your Tanzanian guide. He will welcome you and take you to the expansive Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, with lunch served en route.
You will arrive at the camp late in the afternoon, so keep an eye out for the millions of animals that inhabit this area during the drive. Tonight, you will enjoy an authentic African safari experience, as the lodge is situated within the national park and in the midst of all the animal activity. Upon arrival, your driver and the camp manager will provide you with a safety briefing.
Please note that the drive from Masai Mara to Serengeti is a true African "massage", featuring rough roads, and can take up to 8–9 hours, including the border crossing and two pit stops. Alternatively, we can arrange a 4-hour flight transfer from masai mara to Serengeti.
Day 7: Serengeti National Park
You will wake up to another glorious day in the Serengeti. You'll start the day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they're at their most active. Then, you'll return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch.
You'll spend the hottest part of the day relaxing in the camp reading your favorite book writing your journal about the safari or just listening to your favourite music while observing the birds. Don't stress, the animals will be doing the same. You'll head off again in the afternoon for another drive through the park. You'll return to the lodge for dinner and another night under the Serengeti's stars.

After an early breakfast at 6:00 am, followed by a final game drive through the Serengeti as you exit the park in the morning. Afterward, you will depart for Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor for a half-day tour. There are only two roads that connect the crater rim to the crater floor: one road for driving down and another for driving up.
The crater is approximately 20 km (12 miles) wide and 600 m (2,000 ft) deep. The floor is home to a rich and highly concentrated population of wildlife, including about 20 black rhinoceroses among the 20,000 mammals of various sizes that live there. This makes the crater the best place in Tanzania to see rhinos.
The animals in the crater are generally less wary of humans and vehicles, allowing for closer observation as they roam the lakes, rivers, woodlands, and hills. After your time in the crater, you will exit and drive to your lodge on the rim, arriving in time for a late hot lunch & overnight stay.

Most Frequently Asked Questions
The best time to go on a safari in Tanzania largely depends on what you want to see. Generally, the dry season from late June to October is ideal for wildlife viewing. During this period, animals congregate around water sources, making them easier to spot. Additionally, the Great Migration in the Serengeti, where millions of wildebeest and zebras move in search of greener pastures, peaks around June and July for river crossings and from late January to February for the calving season.
Tanzania is home to some of the most renowned national parks and reserves in Africa. The Serengeti National Park is famous for the Great Migration and abundant wildlife. Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an incredible concentration of wildlife in a stunning volcanic caldera. Tarangire National Park is known for its large elephant herds and baobab trees, while Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife. The Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park in the south offer more remote and less crowded safari experiences.
Tanzania offers a variety of safari experiences to suit different interests and budgets. Classic game drives are the most common and allow you to see wildlife from the comfort of a 4x4 vehicle. Walking safaris provide a more intimate experience, allowing you to explore the bush on foot with a knowledgeable guide. Hot air balloon safaris in the Serengeti offer a unique perspective of the landscape and wildlife from above. Night safaris, available in certain parks, give you the chance to spot nocturnal animals. Additionally, cultural safaris can be arranged to visit local tribes and learn about their way of life.
Packing for a safari requires careful consideration to ensure comfort and practicality. Essential items include light, breathable clothing in neutral colors to blend in with the environment and avoid attracting insects. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are crucial for protection from the sun. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended for walking safaris. Binoculars and a good camera are essential for wildlife viewing and photography. Additionally, bring insect repellent, a first aid kit, any necessary medications, and a reusable water bottle. Layered clothing is advisable as temperatures can vary greatly from morning to evening.
Yes, certain vaccinations and medications are recommended before traveling to Tanzania. It's advisable to consult with a travel health specialist or your doctor well in advance of your trip. Common vaccinations include those for hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and yellow fever (particularly if coming from or transiting through a yellow fever endemic area). Malaria is prevalent in many parts of Tanzania, so taking antimalarial medication is highly recommended. Additionally, ensure you are up to date with routine vaccinations such as MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus), and polio.
Tanzania is generally considered safe for tourists, and the safari industry is well-regulated with experienced guides and operators. However, as with any travel, it's important to exercise common sense and take precautions. Always follow the instructions of your guide, particularly when it comes to wildlife viewing and safety. Be aware of your surroundings and secure your belongings. In terms of health, it's important to take preventive measures against malaria and stay hydrated. It's also advisable to check travel advisories and register with your embassy before traveling.
A typical day on safari in Tanzania often starts early, around sunrise, to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and increased animal activity. After a light breakfast, you'll embark on a morning game drive, returning to camp for brunch or lunch. The midday hours are usually spent relaxing at the lodge or camp, as wildlife activity slows down in the heat. In the late afternoon, you'll head out for another game drive, returning by sunset. Dinner is typically enjoyed at the camp, followed by time to unwind and share stories of the day. Some lodges also offer evening activities such as stargazing or cultural performances.
Yes, many lodges and tour operators in Tanzania cater to families and offer child-friendly safari experiences. However, it's important to choose the right itinerary and accommodations to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for everyone. Some lodges have age restrictions for certain activities, such as walking safaris, but they often provide alternative activities for younger children. Family tents, educational programs, and specialized guides can enhance the experience for kids. It's also essential to consider health precautions, such as malaria prevention, and ensure that your children are comfortable with the travel arrangements.
The cost of a safari in Tanzania can vary widely depending on factors such as the length of the safari, the type of accommodations, the level of luxury, and the time of year. Budget safaris, which often involve camping or staying in basic lodges, can start at around $200-$300 per person per day. Mid-range safaris, with more comfortable lodges and additional amenities, typically range from $400-$700 per person per day. Luxury safaris, offering high-end lodges, private guides, and additional services, can cost upwards of $1,000 per person per day. These costs usually include accommodation, meals, park fees, and game drives, but may not cover international flights, visas, or personal expenses.
Choosing a reputable safari operator is crucial for a safe and enjoyable experience. Start by researching operators with good reviews and testimonials from previous clients. Look for operators that are members of professional associations, such as the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) or the African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA). Ensure that the operator has knowledgeable and experienced guides, well-maintained vehicles, and a commitment to responsible tourism practices. It's also helpful to seek recommendations from friends or travel agents who have experience with Tanzanian safaris. Don’t hesitate to ask operators detailed questions about their itineraries, accommodations, and safety measures.
Most international travelers fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) near Arusha, or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam. Arusha is the gateway to the northern safari circuit, including the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, while Dar es Salaam is the entry point for southern parks like Selous and Ruaha. From these airports, you can take domestic flights or arrange ground transportation to your safari destination. Some safari packages include internal flights to save travel time.
